The government has taken steps to establish an office to act as a central coordination center to get the support of Sri Lankans living abroad.
For that, President Ranil Wickramasinghe also made a proposal in the 2022 interim budget.
Accordingly, steps are being taken to establish the proposed “Office for the Affairs of Sri Lankans Abroad” so that the contribution of the 3 million Sri Lankans living abroad can be obtained for development activities in this country.
Yesterday, the Council of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to establish it under the office of the President and to take the necessary steps to run the affairs of that office in an orderly manner.
