The Weerambugedara Police officers have arrested 06 suspects involved in an attack on a village-level meeting of the National People’s Power Party held in Potuhera Panagamuwa village yesterday.
Police say that there are two twin brothers among these suspects, who are residents of Panagamuwa, Potuhera.
This attack took place on the last 06th. Two people, including Mr. Somarathna Edirisinghe, a member of the National People’s Power Party of Polgahawela local council, were admitted to the Kurunegala hospital with injuries.
The National People’s Power Party had complained to the police that a drunken group stormed the meeting ground and assaulted them by chanting obscene words.
