The latest status of Sri Lankans on the vessel detained in Nigeria

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Kenya Mr. Velupillai Kananathan has confirmed that the Sri Lankan crew members of the vessel detained by the authorities of Nigeria for entering Nigerian waters are in good health.

That was when the High Commissioner went there to find out about the Sri Lankans on that vessel.

The high commissioners of India, Poland and the Philippines, the diplomatic officers and the high commissioner of Sri Lanka had gone to this vessel named ‘M/T Heroic IDUN’.

The High Commissioner says that the Nigerian Navy will provide them with adequate security and all kinds of support, including food, medical facilities, and entertainment facilities.

The ship was detained last August. The next hearing is scheduled for January 11.

The Ministry of External Affairs and the High Commission will continue to monitor the situation.
