Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Prishantha Jayakodi has been appointed as the Chief of Crime Prevention Police in the Western Province.
This appointment has been made by the Inspector General of Police subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security.
Mr. Prishantha Jayakodi also served as a Police Media Spokesman for some time. Later, he went to Australia in 2014 while working as Senior Superintendent of Police for Ratnapura Division and stayed there after receiving political asylum.
He returned to Sri Lanka during the Yahapalana government and contested the 2015 general election from the United National Party. He also became the Mahara seat organizer of the UNP.
Later, Mr. Prishantha Jayakodi went to the Yahapalana government’s Anti-Corruption Committee and got reinstated and promoted.
