A Major and a Captain have been arrested by the Diyatalawa Police for seriously assaulting an apprentice cadet at the Diyatalawa Army Training Camp.
The police say that the father of the apprentice cadet is a colonel of the sniper training school in that camp.
This attack took place on October 6. The police say that the apprentice officer was seriously injured after being hit on his leg with a stick and hit on his ear and was admitted to the Diyathalawa Base Hospital.
According to a notification from the hospital, the police went to the hospital, recorded the statement from the cadet officer and started an investigation. Yesterday, the suspect major and captain were arrested after they surrendered to the police.
