The Minister of Power and Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera also says that the Ceylon Coal Company will announce a new international open competitive tender that will allow any suitable supplier capable of supplying coal on a long-term credit basis.
It said that to meet immediate requirements, tenders will be floated in respect of the remaining 19 fuel containers from previous years.
The Minister also mentions that the coal tender awarded on August 25 at the request of the Ministry of Power and Energy was cancelled by the Cabinet yesterday (22).
The minister said that the selected supplier had communicated that it was unable to fulfill the tender review issues due to the legal status of the filed and the impact on the risk of guaranteeing payment.
