President left for England to participate in Royal funeral

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has left for England early this morning.

It was to participate in the funeral ceremony of the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth II, who held the royal crown for the longest time in the British royal family.

This visit of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, who is participating in this event as one of the two participants in the Queen’s royal funeral as the children of parents who participated in the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, is a unique opportunity to join the British and Sri Lankan history books.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe’s parents Mr. Esmond Wickramasinghe and Mrs. Nalini Wickramasinghe participated in the coronation ceremony of Queen Elizabeth in February 1952 along with Prime Minister Dudley Senanayake.

The other person here is a member of the royal family, Princess Beatrix, the former queen of the Netherlands.

They will join the history books as the first people in the history of the world to have such an opportunity.
