The Mihintalea Rajamaha Viharaya head Valahangunawewe Dhammarathana Thero told the Vice Chairman of the Mihintale Regional Council, who came to a function attended by president Ranil Wickramasinghe, to leave the function ground this afternoon.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe visited Anuradhapura district today and the President went to Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara and participated in a short ceremony.
When the Vice-Chairman of the Mihintale local council came to the ceremony and was about to sit on a seat where dignitaries sit, the Dhammarathana thero told him not to sit there and leave the function ground.
Mr. Lalith Edirisinghe, Vice Chairman of Mihintale local council representing Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna faced this incident.
Dhammarathana Thera said later that he was informed to leave the festival grounds because Mr. Lalith Edirisinghe is a person who has been arrested and released on suspicion of raping a minor girl, so that it is a harm if he sit with the President.
When the incident occurred, President Ranil Wickramasinghe and many ministers of Anuradhapura district were present and they were also able to witness the incident.
