Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena says that the government is working to establish the executive committee system immediately.
Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena said this in his first speech to the Parliament after assuming the post of Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister mentions that steps will be taken to prepare a necessary draft for that.
He also said that by creating an executive committee, all parliamentarians will be able to represent themselves in the committee, so that the work and ordinances that should be done nationally can be done with the agreement of all.
The Prime Minister mentioned that the Free Education Act was also created by an executive committee.
The prime minister said that when suffrage vote was introduced in 1931, an executive committee was created and the laws created by it are still in effect today and that system is very successful.
The Prime Minister recalled that this system was very successful.
The Prime Minister also said there, “The government is ready to listen to public protests. Ready to listen to democratic protests. But terrorism cannot be allowed.”
