The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna as a party has not taken a decision to support any other candidate, says the party president, Foreign Minister Prof. GL Peiris.
He mentioned that since a candidate has been nominated by his party, we should support the party’s candidate and not an outside candidate.
The Minister stated that since the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is the party with the largest number of members in the Parliament, it is possible for the candidate from the Podujana Peramuna to win.
Accordingly, Mr. Peiris said that Mr. Dallas Alahapperuma has already announced that he will stand for the election of the President which will be held on the 20th, and added that he is a very suitable candidate.
However, the Secretary General of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Member of Parliament, Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam, said this afternoon (15) that he decided to give his party’s support to Acting President Ranil Wickramasinghe in the election of the President.

Rajapaksas time up to step down, in the ALTERNATIVE they should be investigafted for corruption and charged in courts. If found guilty, one appeal should be allowed to a higher court. If they are still found GUILTY by thr Higher courts they should be sent to jail and action taken to recover the money from overseas through an INTERNATIONAL COURTS AT HAGUE. This is possible by an international organisation meant for this type of offences in other countries as well.
