The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) says that 186 traders who sold rice above the maximum retail price and 479 traders who refused to sell rice without displaying the price will be prosecuted in the future.
The authority said in a statement that those traders had been arrested and released on bail.
The Consumer Affairs Authority also states that 22 such convicts have been fined around Rs. 3.2 million by the relevant courts.
Accordingly, the Consumer Affairs Authority instructs wholesalers and retailers to purchase and sell rice in a manner that allows them to sell rice in accordance with the maximum retail price.
