The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and Social Empowerment states that an allowance of Rs. 5,000 will be given to 3.3 million families from this month.
Its secretary Neil Bandara Hapuhinna stated that this allowance will be given to families facing economic difficulties.
The Secretary further said that this allowance will be given for 6 months and the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank will provide funds for this purpose.
