A police sergeant who was guarding the entrance gate of the DIG’s office at Kandarupokuna Road in Tangalle has shot himself today.
That is while on duty, he opened fire with his duty weapon.
The sergeant is a 46-year-old resident of Weeraketiya.
It is unknown at this time what he meant to suicide.
