Businessman Dhammika Perera, who has been appointed as a Member of Parliament for the ruling party, has telephoned Sanath Jayasuriya, a world renowned cricket star, to apologize.
This is regarding the misrepresentation of Sanath Jayasuriya as ‘Sanath Goonetileke’ when he made a statement in a television interview telecast on a private channel which is rapidly circulating on social media these days.
Sanath Goonetileke is a veteran actor in Sri Lankan cinema.
Dhammika Perera also misrepresented another superstar cricketer Aravinda de Silva as Aravinda Perera on that TV show.
With the resignation of Basil Rajapaksa and the appointment of Dhammika Perera as the National List Member of Parliament for the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, this video section has started circulating like a virus on social media.
However, leaving a note on this, Sanath Jayasuriya had said that Dhammika Perera called to apologize and said him that it was only a slip of the tongue and not a memory problem.
Mr. Jayasuriya also congratulated Dhammika Perera on his difficult responsibility and said that he would first focus on concluding these matters.
