The govt. are seeking public support to prevent businessmen working with govt. from becoming MPs

The Center for Human Rights in Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has taken steps to seek public support to prevent those who do business with the government from becoming Members of Parliament.

Accordingly, the Center for Human Rights of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) requests the public to provide information, data and evidence on their business rights and transactions with the Government on those who are doing business with the Government as Members of Parliament, in the following emails social media through messages.

The Center for Human Rights in Sri Lanka (HRCSL) says the move is taken in the public interest against those who are currently doing so or will be future Members of Parliament.

According to the judgment of the Court of Appeal CA / 1164/98 (Dilan Perera v. Rajitha Senaratne) doing business with the government while acting as a Member of Parliament is a reason to lose the seat of a Member of Parliament.
