The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government states that they are planning to send the annual and semi-annual reports submitted by public institutions to Parliament, the Auditor General’s Department, and other institutions through the e-books.
Its secretary, Mr. M. M. P. K. Mayadunne said that in addition to filling out various forms, arrangements are being made to provide a single form for this purpose and to forward those forms to the relevant sections using social media methods such as WhatsApp.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration stated that under the new program, printed leaflet advertisements will also be facilitated for display on social media and electronic screens using digital graphics.
The scheme is being implemented with the aim of minimizing the huge cost incurred on paper for various forms and reports annually.
However, he added that plans are afoot to get cabinet approval for the new program.
