A father and two sons who went to inquire about a mobile phone theft have been assaulted and the father was killed in the Kandaliyaddapaluwa area in Ragama.
The murder took place last night. The two sons were also admitted to the Ragama Hospital with injuries.
The victim was a 55 year old resident of Kandaliyaddapaluwa. Police investigations have revealed that he was involved in drug trafficking.
The man had lost his mobile phone and a search revealed that it had been stolen by a neighbor.
Accordingly, the man had gone to the suspect’s house with his two sons and demanded a mobile phone. The suspect was attacked with a sharp weapon. The suspect had also retaliated and the father had died and the two sons had been injured there.
The suspect had also fled and gone into hiding and was arrested by the police this morning. He was admitted to the Ragama Hospital with injuries. He was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital, due to the life threatening behavior of the victim’s family members who came to the hospital against the suspect. Special security has also been provided to him at the hospital.
