Two vessels carrying Sri Lankans with narcotics were seized by India

According to information received from India, a group of Sri Lankans has been arrested along with two Sri Lankan fishing vessels carrying a stock of heroin.

It is said that the two vessels were trapped in a special operation conducted by the Indian Coast Guard and the Navy in the Indian Ocean area about two days ago.

It is said that the Sri Lanka Police Narcotics Bureau has also sought information from India in this regard. So far no official information has been reported from that country.

The last time a multi-day trawler with Sri Lankans was arrested in connection with the smuggling of narcotics was on April 19, 2021, in a joint operation by the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy. Five Sri Lankan suspects have been arrested there. 337 kilos of heroin were found hidden in the vessel.

Eighteen days earlier that day, a multi-day trawler carrying 100 kilos of hashish and 150 kilos of heroin had been apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard along with six Sri Lankans.

On November 26, 2020, the Indian Coast Guard arrested a multi-day vessel that had been transporting narcotics with Sri Lankans. 06 Sri Lankans were arrested with 98.8 kilos of heroin and 18 kilos of ice in their possession.
