The CID has arrested two suspects in connection with the attack on MP Kumara Welgama, his security guard, driver and for burning his vehicle near the Kottawa Expressway entrance on the 9th.
Kumara Welgama, his bodyguard – police sergeant Boteju and the driver who were injured heavily during the assault were hospitalized for more than two weeks.
After a lengthy investigation, the CID arrested the two suspects yesterday and one of them was a 37-year-old cook at a restaurant on Makumbura Road. The other suspect is a 30-year-old health worker from Horana, police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.
