The Prime Minister’s Office states that reports that the forthcoming interim budget has decided to increase the salaries of state sector employees are false.
The Prime Minister’s Media Unit stated this in a special press release.
Accordingly, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has not decided to increase the salaries of public sector employees in the forthcoming interim budget.
The announcement further stated that the interim relief budget will reduce the allocations of all ministries except the Ministry of Health and Education and provide relief for the people.
