The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe has stated that he does not want to resign as the country is gaining some political stability.
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe was responding to a question raised by a journalist at a press conference held at the Central Bank Auditorium today.
He had earlier stated that he will resign if there is no political stability in the country and the journalist questioned him about that.
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said that a Prime Minister has been appointed and several cabinet members have been appointed, indicating that progress is being made towards political stability in the future.
Therefore, I feel that there will be no obstacles to the continuation of the activities of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, ”he said.
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe also said that after announcing that he will resign, several people had called him and asked him not to resign.
