According to the Ceylon Private Bus Owners’ Association, the number of buses plying daily has been reduced by 15% to 20%,
Its chairman Gemunu Wijeratne stated that the current fuel shortage is the main reason for this situation.
He also said that if public transport services were disrupted, public and private sector factories and all other activities would be severely affected.
