Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has no intention of fleeing the country, says Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
Speaking to the French News Agency, the MP further stated that despite various rumors circulating on social media that the Rajapaksa family is leaving the country, there is no need to do so.
He said that former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is currently in a safe place.
“There are a lot of rumors that we are about to leave. We will not leave the country. My father is safe, he is in a safe place and he maintains contact with family.
Speaking further, Mr. Namal Rajapaksa stated that his father will not resign from the post of Member of Parliament and he wants to play an active role in selecting his successor.
Our family believes that Sri Lankans have the right to protest,” he said, adding that “we will always stand up for our people.”
