At Stalin’s request, DMK MPs in India donated their salary to Sri Lanka

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MPs in the Lok Sabha and State Assembly of India have decided to credit their monthly salaries to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to make a donation to help the people of this country.

Accordingly, in the midst of the severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has announced that his party will donate 10 million INR.

The party had announced yesterday (05) that the decision was made upon the request of party chairman, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had recently requested the Central Government of India to allow shipping essential goods and medicines to the people of Sri Lanka who are facing an economic crisis.

In his appeal to Sri Lanka, he said the Tamil Nadu government would send 40,000 tonnes of rice, 500 tonnes of milk powder and life-saving drugs in the first phase.

“This is the time to do whatever we can to help the affected people,” Stalin said, urging other parliamentarians to donate to help the people of this country.

It received the approval of the Central Government of India.

Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had informed that the aid could be sent as part of the assistance provided by the Government of India to Sri Lanka.
