Gas contract with Oman has expired – New company to provide gas cheaper

The contract of the Oman company which has been importing gas to Sri Lanka for the last two years is due to expire this month.

Accordingly, the last gas ship sent to Sri Lanka from Oman arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (29).

The amount of gas brought in by that ship was 3500 metric tons and the arrived gas is being distributed at present.

With the expiration of this contract period, Litro says they have selected a new supplier to provide gas cheaper to local consumers.

Siamgas Company of Thailand has been selected for the opportunity, said Litro’s chairman Vijitha Herath.

Litro said they will be able to obtain gas for an amount US $ 9 million less than the price of gas purchased from the previous company that imported the gas in the past two years.
