Dr. Nalaka Godahewa has made a special statement to the media today regarding the rumors circulating that he has resigned from the post of Minister of Mass Media and Information.
He said in a letter that he was ready to resign from the post of cabinet minister to give the president a chance to appoint a cabinet consisting of other parties that are more acceptable to the people.
However, Dr. Nalaka Godahewa said that the President had rejected his resignation and that he had decided to remain in the ministry as a source of strength to the President as the president had requested him to make the necessary changes and support him in carrying out this task together.
Samagi Janabalavega MP Mujibur Rahuman told parliament today that he had learned that Nalaka Godahewa had submitted his resignation letter to the President two days after taking over the ministry post.
