Secretary to the Ministry of Defense Jagath Alwis stated that steps have been taken to appoint a panel to look into whether the police acted excessively during the Rambukkana shooting.
Secretary to the State Ministry of Community Police S.T. Kodikara, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Public Defense Malika Sooriyapperuma, and Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Defense Major General Edward Jayasinghe have been appointed to the panel.
Meanwhile, retired Maj. Gen. Jagath Alwis as the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Defense and IGP C. D. Wickramaratne has issued a special statement in connection with the Rambukkana incident. It is as follows.
