Two MPs were removed from Parliament

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena had to adjourn Parliament twice today (08) during the debate on the International Monetary Fund report on Sri Lanka.

That is due to the unruly behavior of two MPs.

Accordingly, the Speaker ordered the removal of Chaminda Wijesiri, a Member of Parliament for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, and Tissa Kuttiarachchi, a Member of Parliament for the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, from the House temporarily in accordance with Standing Order 79.

The Speaker also told the House that it was unfortunate that two Members of Parliament had behaved in such a manner during an important debate.

The Parliamentary Sessions began at 10.00 am today and the Adjournment Debate on the International Monetary Fund Report will continue until 8.00 pm tonight.
