The Ceylon Electricity Board says that power generation from the Samanalawewa and Castlereagh reservoirs will be suspended from tomorrow due to insufficient water levels.
Its general manager, Mr. D.C.R. Abeysekera stated,
The water level in Castlereagh Reservoir had dropped to 8.4% yesterday and the water level in Samanalawewa had dropped to 11.8%.
The General Manager of the Electricity Board further stated that the water capacity of Maussakelle has decreased upto 27.8%, Kotmale upto 20.6%, Victoria Reservoir upto 30% and Randenigala Reservoir upto 58%.
