A massive protest is taking place in the Mirihana Pangiriwatta area blocking the entrance road to the private residence of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The protest has been going on for about an hour and they are protesting against the economic crisis in the country.
Special police forces were deployed to try to control the protesters.
The power supply to the area has also been cut off.
