Litro Chairman Theshara Jayasinghe says that a request has been made to the Cabinet to increase the price of Litro gas.
He was addressing a media briefing at the Presidential Media Center.
He says it is impossible to say how much this price increase will cost. The chairman states that it is confidential information of the company and that the gas price will not be increased for two or three weeks.
He emphasizes that Litro is currently losing 4.5 billion rupees, raising the question of how to suppy gas when they make a loss.
About 30,000 gas cylinders are being released to the market in excess of the daily requirement of the country, he said. He also pointed out that nearly one million gas cylinders have been delivered in the last 10 days.
He further stated that an order of 30,000 metric tons of gas has been prepared for the month of April.
