Ruwan Wijayamuni, the Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council says that no proper approval has been given for the opening of nightclubs in the Colombo city limits.
He added that the police have the power to deal with nightclubs that are open without approval.
He notes that efforts to implement health guidelines in nightclubs are minimal.
Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni further stated that the Environmental Police will be working with the public to find out whether people are following the health guidelines in public places.
