The Cabinet has decided to increase the monetary donation value for the ‘Obata Geyak – Ratata Hetak’ housing program in view of the sharp rise in prices of construction materials.
The press release issued by the Cabinet Office in this regard is as follows.
Under this project, which is implemented for low-income families living in temporary houses, a grant of up to a maximum of Rs. 600,000 will be given to a selected beneficiary family based on the progress of their housing construction.
Since the project was launched in 2020, the cost of construction materials has skyrocketed, making it difficult to build a fully-fledged residential house as expected with a grant of Rs. 600,000.
Therefore, it was decided to approve the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to increase the assistance paid under this program to the selected beneficiary families from the year 2022 to Rs. 650,000.
