A small village has been completely destroyed in an explosion caused by a motorcycle colliding with a truck transporting explosives in Ghana.
The explosives were transported in a truck belonging to a gold mine west of Ghana and the government says 17 people have been killed in the blast.
Aid workers have already launched a search operation in the area and many of the injured are in critical condition, hospital sources said.
Reuters reported that according to local media reports, about hundreds of buildings have been destroyed.
The deputy director-general of the National Disaster Management Organization in Ghana has said more than 500 buildings have been destroyed by the blast.
The Ghanaian government is conducting further investigations into the blast.
