Attention has been drawn to re-appoint Senior DIG Ajith Rohana as the Police Media Spokesman.
The appointment will be made within the next 48 hours, police sources said.
Ajith Rohana is to be appointed as the Media Spokesperson for the 6th time in his career.
Ajith Rohana has been the Police Spokesman for the longest time since the official appointment of Rienzie Perera, then a Senior Superintendent of Police, who was the Director of the Public Relations Division of the Police in 2000 when Lucky Kodithuwakku was serving as the Inspector General of Police.
When Ajith Rohana was first appointed as the Police Media Spokesperson in 2011, he was a Superintendent of Police. After serving as a police spokesman until 2012, he was re-appointed to the post in 2013. Until 2015, Ajith Rohana again served as the Media Spokesperson and in 2017 he was again given the responsibility of the Media Spokesperson for a short period. Ajith Rohana later served as the Police Media Spokesman and Police Spokesman until the year 2021 at the inception of the Covid Epidemic.
Ajith Rohana is currently serving as the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in several important divisions of the Police such as Crime, Traffic, and Law.
