Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has given the final power to resolve the dispute over the transfer of medical officers to Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
The decision was announced during a discussion between the Government Medical Officers’ Association and the Prime Minister at Temple Trees on the 4th.
Accordingly, the Prime Minister instructed the media to take steps to resolve the issue with the consent of all, the Prime Minister’s Media Unit said.
The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) including Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya, a specialist, has submitted seven proposals to the meeting, the main of which is the need to maintain the current systematization of the Transfer Board.
The Prime Minister has asked Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to sit down for a discussion and come to a decision as the minister finds this proposal unacceptable.
However, Keheliya Rambukwella has also accused the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) of making a statement in the media that the Minister of Health had been politically influential in the past.
The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) had earlier requested a discussion with the President in this regard and due to the non-receipt of an appointment, an appointment was made with the Prime Minister.
However, according to a reliable source, newswave.lk got to know that the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) is in talks to rejoin the trade union action regarding the Minister’s decision not to change the decision regarding the transfer board.
