President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa inspected the renovation work this afternoon (06).
The building, which housed a prison cell and later a remand prison during the British colonial period, was taken over by the Urban Development Authority and developed under the supervision of the Department of Archeology.
All the constructions of this building of historical value have been done without damaging the ancient design of the palace which existed in the early period. The President instructed that the reconstruction work be completed expeditiously.
Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela was also present at the occasion.
