The Netherlands has decided to lockdown the country again from today until January 14.
The Dutch Prime Minister has decided to close the country as there is a risk of the new Omicron variant spreading rapidly in the European region.
Accordingly, the Netherlands has decided to close all non-essential shops, services, restaurants, hairdressing salons, museums, gymnasiums until January 14 and schools until January 9.
Commenting on this, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands said, “Given the current situation, we have no choice but to close the Netherlands. Preventing the Omicron variant from coming to us is a big challenge. ”
“If we fail to comply with these travel restrictions, we could face unimaginable consequences,” he said. Accordingly, if this situation continues, there is a possibility that the capacity of hospitals will be exceeded in the future. ”
With the discovery of the first Omicron-infected person from the Netherlands, there is a rapid increase in the number of Omicron infections and it is reported that hospitals are reaching their maximum capacity.
Since the outbreak, there have been about 29 million cases of corona infection in the Netherlands and more than 20,000 deaths.
However, in the past 24 hours, 14,000 new cases have been reported in the country.
