Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage has been appointed as the 59th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.
The appointment was made by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on the recommendation of the Chief of Defense Staff and Army Commander General Shavendra Silva with effect from today (07).
Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage, a senior officer of the Gajaba Regiment, was the Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force before assuming duties in this post.
Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage was appointed to the post following the retirement of Maj. Gen. Priyantha Perera from the Army, who served as the 58th Chief of Staff of SL Army.
