Dallas Alahapperuma, Minister of Mass Media and Information has appointed a Steering Committee to establish the Sri Lanka Institute of Chartered Journalists proposed to be established under the Ministry of Mass Media and Information.
The Steering Committee consists of thirteen members, including the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information, the Additional Secretary to the Ministry and the Legal Officer of the Ministry, as well as a group of doctors and subject matter experts, according to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information.
This Chartered Institute of Journalists is to be established as a research and training institute for higher education in journalism to provide academic opportunities from the Certificate course in the field of journalism to undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
