    A new Surveyor General has been appointed

    Mr. A. Dissanayake has been appointed as the new Surveyor General of the Survey Department of Sri Lanka

    Mr. Dissanayake is the 52nd Surveyor General of the Survey Department of Sri Lanka.

    He received his primary education from Sri Sumangala Maha Vidyalaya, Weligama and joined the state Service on March 6, 1985 as an Assistant Survey Superintendent after successfully completing his degree in Physics from the University of Ruhuna.

    He joined the Survey Department in 1991 after completing his Masters Degree in Geology and Surveying from the University of Ohio on a scholarship under the United Nations Program.

    Mr. Dissanayake later served as the Director of the Diyatalawa Survey and Mapping Institute.

    Mr. Dissanayake, who has served in various parts of the country, was appointed as the Surveyor General after 36 years of experience.
