With the removal of provincial travel restrictions, The Commission has taken action to launch a special office transport service at 4.15 pm near the Shalika Stadium in Narahenpita to the five major cities of Galle, Kandy, Ratnapura, Kurunegala and Chilaw, using buses for the convenience of employees coming to government and private institutions for employment.
Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Transport inaugurated the office transport service this afternoon (01).
Due to the large number of government and private sector departments and institutions located in Narahenpita, it has been decided to start this office transport service from Narahenpita as the first step as a large number of people visit Narahenpita daily.
As a second step, the National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced plans to launch similar office bus services in Battaramulla and Pelawatta, where government departments and private institutions are located, to several major cities in the near future.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that these transport services will be operated in accordance with all Kovid Safety Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.
Secretary to the Ministry of Transport Monty Ranatunga and Chairman of the National Transport Commission Shashi Welgama were also present at the inauguration of these office transport services.
