Ten inmates serving long sentences for crimes including theft and robbery began a protest today on the roof of the chapel section of the Welikada Prison.
Prison sources said that the prisoners had climbed on the roof at around 2.30 pm.
The prisoners’ demand is for a presidential pardon.
