Sources say that the Examinations Department has not received applications from even 50% of the students appearing for the GCE Advanced Level and Grade 5 Scholarship examinations this year.
It is reported that the teachers and principals have refused to send the students’ applications for the Advanced Level and Scholarship examinations as they are engaged in a trade union action.
Meanwhile, Prof. Kapila Perera has issued a circular stating that if a student is unable to sit for the GCE Advanced Level or Scholarship Examination, the respective principals should take the responsibility.
The Secretary of Education has stated that the last date for accepting applications for the Advanced Level and Scholarship examinations is the 15th of this month and such applications are required before that.
