Steps have been taken to restrict heart surgeries at the Colombo National Hospital due to the risk of Covid.
Accordingly, it has been decided to perform only the essential heart surgeries, said the Director of the Colombo National Hospital, Dr. Kumara Wickramasinghe.
The Colombo National Hospital performed about 25 heart surgeries a week and the number had dropped to five due to the current situation.
More than 6,000 heart patients are on the waiting list at the Colombo National Hospital for heart surgeries.
