Thirty-two pregnant mothers have so far died of Covid infection, said Dr. Chitramali de Silva, Director Specialist, Family Health Bureau.
So far, 4,200 pregnant mothers have been infected with the Covid 19 virus and about 900 are being treated in hospitals, she said.
She stated this at a media briefing held at the Family Health Promotion Bureau today.
She further stated that 75% of pregnant mothers in the country have been vaccinated against Covid.
She also urged pregnant women to be vaccinated as they are more likely to develop complications if they become infected with Covid.
