From now on, the government has decided to give the Rs. 10,000 worth of grocery packages only to low-income families which was previously given to the families who have been quarantined in their homes due to the Covid epidemic.
The decision was taken at a recent Cabinet meeting.
The government had earlier provided this grocery package as a relief to families affected by the devastating Covid epidemic and to quarantine families.
Anton Perera, Joint Secretary to the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation and Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, has sent a letter to all District Secretaries, Government Agents and Divisional Secretaries urging them to implement these circular provisions expeditiously.
