Even though the Corona pandemic situation of the country was soaring, Political Parties and Trade Unions have held 847 protests during the past three months.
At least 106,648 individuals have taken part in such public gatherings within a period of 90 days.
Of them, the majority of protests and public gatherings have been held in the districts of Kurunegala (77), Nuwara Eliya (75), Colombo (72) etc.
DISTRICTS WHERE PUBLIC GATHERINGS WERE HELD AND THE CROWD PARTICIPATION

Those protests have been held mainly in respect of issues concerning the shortage of fertilizer, price hike of fuel, Kothalawala Bill, Teachers’ & Principals’ salary anomalies of etc.

The majority of those demonstrations have been organized by the JVP and the number is 230. Thereafter, trade unions have held 220 demonstrations and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya 185 demonstrations across the country.
