“Don’t let any inconvenience happen to Covid Patients visiting Hospitals.” – Prez

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed health chiefs not to allow any inconvenience for any patient who comes to the hospital with Covid symptoms.

There has been an increase in the number of patients visiting hospitals in several major cities including Colombo on a daily basis due to Covid symptoms.

The President emphasized that they should not be inconvenienced due to the congestion in diagnosing such patients.

Intermediate treatment centers have been set up in several major cities since a few months ago. The centers were designed to prevent any inconvenience that could happen to the infected at any time.

Therefore, the President pointed out the need to refer those who show symptoms first to the Intermediate Treatment Centers and then to the hospitals to monitor the patient’s condition.

The President made this observation at a meeting regarding Vaccination and Further Operations with the Special Committee on Covid Suppression held at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (06).

The President instructed Ministers, State Ministers and Health Officers to directly intervene to formulate a system to prevent inconvenience happening to the public at the hospital level.

The President stated that it is the responsibility of health professionals to constantly provide the public with the necessary advice through the media to prevent the spread of the disease.

It was also decided to facilitate anyone over the age of 30 to receive the first dose at any of the centers that administer the second dose.

Both doses of the vaccine have been ordered to be administered to the entire population of the country over the age of 18 before September. The government is ready for even a third dose.

However, Dr. Prasanna Gunasena, a specialist, said it was unfortunate that public support for the spread of the disease was declining.

Many people who are involved in anti-covid operations take local medicines on a daily basis. It is very helpful in immunization. State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Sisira Jayakody pointed out that even if the vaccine is obtained, taking local medicines daily and steaming regularly will help reduce the incidence of the disease.
