Bangladesh, batting first in the opening Test against Sri Lanka, have reached a strong position at 280 for 3 wickets.
The match is being held at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, where Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka claimed their first wicket when the score was just 5 and reduced the visitors to 45 for 3 early on.
However, a brilliant partnership for the fourth wicket between skipper Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim rescued the innings, with the duo putting together a stand worth over 200 runs.
Shanto remains unbeaten on 129, while Rahim is close to his century with 100 not out.
Bangladesh: 280/3 in 86 overs.
